Almost none of the tools around WordPress assume a real engineering team. Once an organisation runs more than a handful of sites — or even one store where downtime costs money — the ordinary questions get hard. Which plugin versions are deployed where? Which sites are behind? What changed last Tuesday, and who approved it?

wpkit is the platform we are building to answer them. It is a Laravel API and a React dashboard, alongside a WordPress plugin and a CLI. It gives a team one place to see and operate many stores, instead of a browser tab per site.

Underneath it sits a private Composer registry that turns licensed premium plugins into properly versioned packages. That is the part that makes the rest possible. Once every dependency is declared, not uploaded by hand, an update becomes a reviewable change instead of an afternoon of manual work.

It is aimed at organisations for whom WordPress is infrastructure, not just a website — where an unreviewed plugin update is a production risk, and 'log in and click update' does not hold up to an audit.

It is in development, not yet released. This entry describes what is being built.
