Sandra Meynier Kang

SMK is a French designer's dancewear label, based in Seoul and PETA-approved vegan. Its customers are dancers — some in Korea, many not — which made it a small brand with a large brand's checkout problem.

A Korean shopper wants a domestic card routed through a local PG, or NAVER Pay, or KakaoPay, and expects order updates on KakaoTalk. Everyone else wants an international card and a price in their own currency. The site had to be in French and Korean throughout, catalogue included, without maintaining two of everything.

So it ran as one WooCommerce store with Polylang for the translations and a multi-currency layer bolted onto it, NHN KCP, NAVER Pay and KakaoPay at checkout, and order notifications going out over KakaoTalk.

It is also where all of that started. Every one of those pieces was built for this shop first and only later became a product — the gateways, the Kakao notifications, the multi-currency work. Everything above this entry in the list is, one way or another, downstream of a dancewear store.
