OMA Space makes contemporary art and design between Seoul and France — installations, objects, garments. The work is physical and it is spatial, which is the hard part of putting it on a screen. A photograph of a room is not the room.
The first site went up in October 2016, on WordPress, so a two-person studio could publish without calling anyone. Small changes followed through 2017.
It was rebuilt in early 2019, and the useful part was how the design was chosen. Rather than send pictures of a homepage, we built three of them as working pages on a beta site, so the studio could scroll them on their own phone before deciding. Wide margins, a video at the top, type set to let the page breathe. They picked one and it went live.
After that it was a maintenance contract at ₩250,000 a month — updates, hosting, and the ordinary questions a studio with no IT person has: how to change the pictures in the slideshow, how to put a video on a page, how to get back into the admin. The last one was answered in January 2021.
omaspace.com today is somebody else's rebuild on a Korean site builder, so there is nothing here to link to.
