Samaritan's Purse is a Christian humanitarian organisation working in disaster response, medical missions and Operation Christmas Child worldwide. It opened a Korea office in 2020, and an office is not a donation site. Taking Korean donations legally means the same wall every international brand hits here: nothing off the shelf takes a Korean card, and a PG merchant contract carries its own paperwork before a single won moves.
GiveWP fits what a donation site needs — forms per campaign, recurring giving, gift catalogues — better than WooCommerce ever does for a nonprofit. The Korean gateways did not exist for it yet. We already had NHN KCP running on WooCommerce, so the work was the GiveWP NHN KCP Gateway: built against GiveWP's own gateway API, not adapted from a plugin that assumes a shopping cart.
Korea for GiveWP went alongside it — address fields reordered to Korean convention and a checkout that works like a Korean form. Same brief as Korea for WooCommerce, aimed at a different plugin's checkout.
We worked onsite one day a week from December 2020 to September 2021. A compliance-and-payments build is exactly the kind of work that needs the organisation in the room for the decisions that are actually theirs, not routed through email. The site launched and the engagement ended there — a scoped build, not an ongoing one.
