WooCommerce assumes a Western address, a Western phone number and a Western way to find a shop. None of that holds in Korea, and every store hits the same wall on day one.

Korea for WooCommerce fixes the layer under payments: address fields reordered to Korean convention, the postcode finder Korean shoppers expect, phone validation and formatting, Naver Analytics, product feeds for Naver and Daum Shopping, Korean carriers wired into shipment tracking, and Kakao Channel and Naver TalkTalk chat buttons.

It is GPL-3.0, built in the open on GitHub, and on WordPress.org since November 2019 — ten thousand downloads, three hundred stores running it today, rated five stars, and still maintained six years later against current WordPress.

It is also where the rest of the work started. The gateways, identity verification and notification add-ons all grew out of what this plugin deliberately left out. koreakit is the attempt to bring them back together.
