Every store sends order confirmations by email, because that is what the platform does by default. In Korea, that means sending them to a channel most customers stopped checking years ago.

KakaoTalk has over 44 million active users against a population of roughly 52 million — close to 87% of the country, most of them opening it every day. A shipping update that arrives there gets read. The same update in an inbox competes with everything else in the inbox.

This plugin moves WooCommerce's order steps onto that channel: confirmation, payment, shipping, cancellation and refund, each tied to an order status and sent as the order moves.

Business messaging on KakaoTalk is not free-form. Every message has to match a template registered and approved in advance, with variables filled in at send time. The fallback to SMS matters as much as the normal path. So most of the work is in managing templates and handling failures well, not in the API call itself.

It is one of the pieces koreakit brings together.
