The Institut Français in Seoul runs film screenings, exhibitions, concerts and language courses, and its audience has one question that keeps coming back: what is on. A website you have to remember to visit answers that question badly.

The app answers it directly. The first screen is the programme, split between what is running now and what is coming, as cards you scroll through. Behind the menu sit the rest of the institute — the media library, the language courses, jobs and internships — and links out to the wider French network in Korea: the Embassy, Culturethèque, the Alliances Françaises, DELF and DALF.

Content comes from the institute's own site over its API, so the team publishes once and the app follows. Push notifications carry a new event to people who asked for them, instead of waiting to be found.

Built with Ionic and Angular over Cordova: one codebase, shipped to both the App Store and Google Play. For an organisation with a cultural budget rather than a software one, running two native teams was never really an option.
